Food: cabbage red+green

First and foremost before I begin this post, I want to acknowledge the explosions that just went off at the Boston marathon. Hoping for a quick recovery and healing for all.
Now onto a deliciously sweet vegetable - cabbage.  This is my absolute favorite dish with cabbage. I like to eat this with whole grain tortillas. But it is also delish with any other healthy carb or just by itself. Its sweet with a hint of spice.

I used,
1 small red cabbage :: 1/2 of a large green cabbage :: 1medium onion :: 2/3 green chilies slit
1/2 tsp red chili powder :: 1/3 tsp turmeric powder :: salt+oil+pinch of sugar

Slice the cabbages all in equal lengths and widths. My mother has taught me that if the chopped veggies or meat are not equally sized, then it will not cook at the same time. True!

Heat the oil and heap all the cabbage into the pan. Sprinkle some salt and cover it. Keep the heat to medium high. No it will not burn. The juices will come out and the cabbage will wilt - ready for you to  stir fry.

When it wilts down, take the cover off and add the onions, green chilis, red chili powder, turmeric and a pinch of sugar. Stir and cook. Check for salt. Cabbage is already sweet, so taste before you add any sugar. Stir and cook until the liquid has dried up and the cabbage is cooked through. Enjoy!
