Food: fish ball curry

Enjoy with hot rice!

This is a very easy but fancy dish that is also absolutely delicious. For the fish balls you will need:

2 lb minced fish (any fish)
1/2 cup onion thinly sliced
2-3 green chilis chopped
1/2 cup cilantro chopped
1/2 tsp red chili powder
2 tsp lime juice
salt and pepper

You can also add 1 egg if your mixture is not sticky enough to make into balls.

Now time to make little round balls that are all same in size (this is important for them to cook at the same time). Make these balls before you start frying otherwise they might not brown the same way. Also fry them right away!

Fry them on medium high heat until they are golden. They don't need to cook at this time since they will cook in the curry.

Time to make the curry. For the curry you will need:

1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup onion thinly minced
2 medium potatoes cubed
1/2 cup peas
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
Salt

So first you will need to fry the onions in the oil till they turn golden.
Then add the garlic and all the powdered masalas.

Right after adding the above ingredients you need to pour just enough hot water to cover the onions. This will bring all the flavor and aroma out of the spices.

Once the water dries up, and the oil comes out of the spices, you will toss the potatoes and the peas into the pan. At this time add the salt and mix everything in.

This is how it should look like. Keep stirring the vegetables in the sauce.

After about 5 mins, toss in the fried fish balls, and stir carefully so as to not break the fish balls.

Now time to make the curry with some water. Make sure the water is hot. It is wise to keep a kettle boiling with water while you are cooking these ethnic curries. If you want to make this curry fancier, you can add a small can of coconut milk at this time with the water. It will be much more rich and thick!

You will cover and keep this at medium heat till the oil rises to the surface and it tastes perfect!

Enjoy with hot rice!
